About Whirling Dervishes Show with Mevlevi Sema Ceremony in Istanbul
Witness the whirling dances and dervishes during the Mevlevi Sema ceremony at the HodjaPasha Culture Center in the heart of Istanbul. Grab a seat as you enter a 550-year-old Ottoman Turkish bath in Sultanahmet-Sirkeci and enjoy complimentary drinks during the show. A booklet will be provided containing more information about the Mevlevi Sema. A concert of traditional Turkish music kicks off the program. Be amazed by this 800-year-old cultural dance and watch as the sheiks and dervishes take their positions and honor the Prophet, Mohammed. After the chant, the dervishes perform the seven-part Sema ceremony, which symbolizes the creation of humanity. Wrap up the tour with a spiritual experience as the Sema concludes with a Fâtiha for the salvation of the nation and a prayer for the souls of all prophets, martyrs, and believers.
